Learning theories of CLIL(Content and Language Integrated Learning)
Discover how children learn Science, Math, Social Studies, Art and more — all in English.

🌍 CLIL at World Academy: Ensuring Global-Standard Learning in Japan
Many international families living in Japan worry that their children may lose access to global-standard learning, especially in environments where English is treated merely as a subject.
At World Academy, we use CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) not as a novelty, but as a way to provide the kind of education your child would experience in international schools abroad.
✅ Why CLIL Matters for International Families
1. Maintaining an English-medium learning environment in Japan
In Japanese schooling, English is often taught only as a language to memorize.
At World Academy, your child continues to learn Science, Social Studies, Math, and Arts in English, just as they would in an international curriculum.
2. Consistency with global education standards
Our approach aligns with inquiry-based learning seen in
International Baccalaureate (IB)
UK primary curriculum
American Common Core’s integrated learning
International preschools and academies worldwide
This ensures a smooth transition for families who may relocate or plan for international school admission.
3. Academic English, not just conversational English
Children learn to reason, compare, discuss, and present—building the academic English skills essential for higher-level international education.
4. A multicultural environment that mirrors global learning
With teachers and students from diverse backgrounds, our classrooms naturally reflect the multicultural, collaborative learning style that foreign families expect.
✅ What Makes Our CLIL Program Unique in Japan
Unlike many English programs in Japan that focus on vocabulary or casual conversation, our CLIL model emphasizes:
Critical thinking + English
Cross-curricular themes across 5 subjects
Hands-on inquiry and project-based tasks
Debate, discussion, and presentation skills
Global citizenship and cultural perspectives
Your child does not simply “study English”—
they use English as a tool to explore the world, develop ideas, and express themselves with confidence.
🌟 A Learning Experience That Feels Familiar — Even Away from Home
For international families, World Academy offers an environment where your child’s educational growth stays aligned with global expectations, even while living in Japan.
“An international learning experience, delivered within the Japanese community.”
